Blairgowrie, the Ideal Centre

Blairgowrie is ideally situated with excellent road links from all Scotland 's main cities. It is also close to the A9 and on the A93 which makes it quick and easy to get here and relax! Only an hour and a half from Glasgow, Perth and Aberdeen perfect for a much needed short break!

If you have longer to Blairgowrie is the ideal base to plan a fantastic itinerary: From the high mountains of the Cairngorms National Park to the lively cosmopolitan city of Dundee, the Big Tree Country of Highland Perthshire and  the pretty coastal towns inc St Andrews in Fife, all this and more, only about an hour away. We also have our very own Visitor Information Centre in Blairgowrie with very friendly and helpful staff open 7 days a week in summer.

With Blairgowrie having no less than 6 roads meeting at its centre it offers the advantage of a new touring route to choose every day. Here are a few suggestions but there are many more and so many places to mention we could go on until your visit next time!

Day 1 Head off north on the A93 to beautiful Glenshee, ‘Glen of the Fairies' into the Cairngorm National Park and onto Royal Deeside and visit Braemar and Balmoral Castle ;

Day 2 head off on the A93 south by Scone Palace and the Fair City of Perth, from Perth many choices are on offer: West to Crieff and beautiful Loch Earn; South to Edinburgh; South West to Striling and the Trossachs or East through the Carse of Gowrie, and Errol to visit Cairn O'Mhor Scotland's very own wine makers.

Day 3 head out on the A 926 through historic Alyth and onto Meigle to see the sculptured stones before heading onto Glamis to visit the castle and Angus Folk Museum (NTS);

Day 4 go west on the A94 to Coupar Angus take a walk in Larghan Park, turn onto the A923 passing the ruins of the Abbey and onto Dundee, “One City, Many Discoveries”, visit Verdant Works to see the old Industry of Dundee, Jute weaving or the wonders of science hands-on at Sensation Science Centre;

Day 5 head out on the A923 west to visit pretty Dunkeld on the Tay pass over General Wade's famous bridge, join the A9 and visit Pitlochry to the north or travel further west to Aberfeldy & Kenmore and walk over water and meet Scotland's prehistoric loch dwellers at the Crannog Centre on Loch Tay ;

Day 6 take the smallest road out from Blairgowrie the B947 east through Berry Country to Lethendy, Caputh and Murthly, stop off by Airntully for award winning ice cream at Stewart Tower Dairy Farm and at Bankfoot to see Scottish Liqueurs made at Bankfoot travel onto Historic Scotland's Stanley Mills complex and learn about this area's past.;

Day 7 well,… we are all supposed to rest but for most it's time to head home….will just need to come again another time!?
